The Kilt

After reading a comment on another thread, should the wearing of this garment be confined to Scottish people and no-one else?

Just as an example, I knew an elderly gent who used to come to the show in which I was involved. He was from Milton Keynes, but was fanatical about all things Scottish. He had a full Highland Dress outfit that he donned just to come down from his hotel room to go to the show. He also had a hand-written book of Scottish Songs that he had collected over the years and carried it with him, and always volunteered to give a song. I didn't have any problem with this, other than the fact that unfortunately he was tone deaf, but he was keen. It just shows the wide appeal of Scottish Culture to people from other backgrounds.

Being of German-Greek ancestry hasn't stopped Prince Charles wearing a kilt. If we're talking non-Scots, I'd rather see Samuel L Jackson, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Kyle Maclachlan in kilts than Chas.

Errr...anyone know why American rappers have taken to wearing kilts - P Diddy, Snoop Dogg and others?

Slow on the uptake here. I assume you're talking about the other Charlie. The one who's buried in St Peters Basilica :?

Saw his tomb when we were in Rome last year. I believe he was half Polish.

Maybe you already know about the secret that was kept at Culloden. There were reports at the time that Charlie was actually killed in the battle. To keep up morale however some of his close associates buried his body insde a dry stane dyke, as they thought the cause would be lost if his demise became known.

Then they wrote the song:

" Bonnie Charlie's noo a wa' ''
