The Kintyre Bug

Postby Roger50046 » Thu Jan 31, 2013 9:43 pm

Evening All, ive just booked to come back to the Kintyre again in August, i have pined for the kintyre ever since i had my first visit in 2011.

Im going back to Pennysereoch Farm Southend to stay in one of their caravans, cant wait to see Sanda Island as we crest the hill on our way to the farm, no better view.

So you were all right, once youve been once you will always want to come back. :D

When we got posted there in 1968 it was something that I’d always wanted but didn’t know it until that time. If that makes sense. It was also the longest place that I’d stayed anywhere and after two and a half years I was making the mistake of getting comfy.
The bloody place does get under your skin, doesn’t matter if you want it to or not, it just happens.
I was trying to tell someone recently about Long Row, and the smells. How you could start off from one end whiffing things from the shops and by the time you got to the other end you were smelling something entirely different, once again, if that makes sense to anyone. I have no memories of anywhere else like that.

I have so many memories, more from there than anywhere else, not all good ones but the good far outweigh the bad .
I love Kintyre with such a hurt in my heart that never goes away and that is why I like this forum and the pics that are posted, it is somewhere I will never see again but I will love forever.
Just so you know.
Ouch !
