I must admit that we were all dis-appointed that we did not find the place.Especially as it features in the Kintyre Wild Life leaflet.Ah well, maybe next time! :(

To be honest, Roger, Ronachan is ok for seeing seals, but it's not the best. Machrihanish (near the seabird observatory), Kiel (park at the cemetery gates) and Peninver (they bask on the rocks there at low water) are three places where I've photographed seals quite often and I've rarely been disappointed by a no show.

Here's a couple of shots I took on Sanda a fortnight ago, to whet your appetite, Roger :)

I like Ronachan for seals (I believe it means place of the seals in Gaelic).
I dont have any pictures Rog but if you do go next time you are up, the big seal that sits on the rock nearest to the shore is quite tame. If you are very quiet and patient, you can coax it to take bread out of your hand. I have been told it likes cat food but it wouldnt touch it when I was there.

Ticketty Boo! wrote:Carradale point can be accessed along the pathway from the derelict sheep shed on the East side of Carradale Bay. It's a 10-15 minute stroll - with some of it over rocks. The causeway to the point is covered at high tide, but accessable at most times.

Basking sharks generally appear when the sea water temperature hits 14degC. I was out in the boat yesterday off Portpatrick and water temp was only 11.7 degrees, so needs to be a wee bit warmer yet.

Are you in Trumpton Roger? We arrive on Saturday for a fortnight. Look out for a boat with the same name as me?

Where is the derelict sheep shed exactly please?

At the opposite end of the beach to Cala Fionn, Roger. You must have seen it.
