Killypole loch

Postby glassblower » Fri Jul 01, 2011 5:51 pm

Hi,
i will be in Campbeltown in a few weeks (with family) and would like to know how difficult it would be to visit Killypole Loch at the back of Drumlemble. Looking on Google Earth there looks like a road to a farm near it, is it possible to drive to the farm or would i have to leave my car in Drumlemble. Local knowledge would be very helpfull,
thank q.

The road to the farm at Drumlemble is the loch owner (a forum member) who may answer your question. Most people drive through Machrihanish up to High Lossit, park their car at the forest road entrance on your left and walk in to the loch, see link map.

hi jdcarra,
thanks for that, i have just looked at the link you sent and that looks a lot easier route to the Loch than the one i looked at on Google Earth. I have wanted to visit the Loch since i was a teenager but never got round to it, i ran out of time on my visit last year so this time i am determined to try and get there.

Thanks Sheik & Jd,
sorry for delay in answering but have just done 2 twelve hour day shifts and i dare not put the computer on after the first day or i would not get to bed. Two nights to do starting tomorrow so plenty of time now to catch up with things now.
Killypole Loch look's definitely worth a visit, as a youngster i used to stay with my auntie in Ralston road and i would often walk up the hill behind her house and swim in Crosshill Loch, if i had been a bit (lot) younger i might have had a swim in Killypole but i am now to "long in the tooth" for any of that. The photo's look stunning but then again to me the hole of the Kintyre peninsular is stunning, agreed !!!
