Anything I can do to help with that? I haven't tried running phpbb on our servers but there is no reason why it shouldn't support it. We can process domain registrations cheaply too.

Cheers

Thanks for this Gary - I'll find out what we need over the week and speak to you then.

Following the last couple of days I think it is important to do this.

Speak to you soon.

For phpBB you need php 4 and above and a database - MySql 3 or 4 is the preferred choice.

Gary, your servers you say - do you actually have your own or is it rented space somewhere or what?

As a business we rent space on servers in the States, so I suppose they're our virtual servers. We have our own static IP and DNS servers, which are currently hosting 10 different domain names and websites, with support for PHPBB and Access as standard, along with a load of other goodies.

Yes. The server runs Windows Server 2003 so also supports ASP, PHP, etc. I need to check about MySql.

Wot ! No Linux

I installed Apache, PHP and MySql on my PC at home this weekend. I run XP Professional. No worries with MySql - it runs as a service.

Quite a lot of the stuff we do requires VBScript which isn't easy to do with Apache. I've also been working on being able to broadcast live video directly from the webcam. Seems to work okay.

Yeah, it seems to work well enough.

From a link on a webpage it connects through to our router. The router does a bit of jiggery-pokery and connects it through direct to the camera which has it's own IP address. Result is full streaming video direct from the camera to your screen.

The only tricky bit was updating the web page with the correct IP address for our router, as being dynamically allocated it changes every time the internet connection is reset.

Cheers
