20th April 2009 - Sanda Island by Marilyn Shedden. This wonderful photograph is taken from remains of St Ninian's Chapel looking towards the Island's harbour - a safe anchorage for visiting boats and yachts. The famous Byron Darnton tavern offers fine home cooked meals and generous selection of real ales, fine wines and whiskies are available.

Updated photo of the week

27th April 2009 - Campbeltown Loch by Archie Anderson. This superb photograph taken by Archie Anderson shows the stunning setting of Campbeltown Loch. To more of Archie's images please click here.

Campbeltown Loch (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Chille Chiarain) is a small sea loch near the south of the Kintyre Peninsula facing eastwards towards the Firth of Clyde. The town of Campbeltown, from which it takes its name, is located at its head. The island of Davaar is located in the loch, and can be reach by foot along a natural shingle causeway at low tide. Oddly, while in English the Loch takes its name from Campbeltown, in Gaelic, Campbeltown takes its name from the loch - "Ceann Loch Chille Chiarain".

I like the monochrome shot of the boat and Gigha from Tayinloan, too. Guess I've got a soft spot for B&W.
