Had an excellent wee lunch from Auntie Jose at the Network Center in Carradale yesterday.
Lovely soup, a salad roll to die for and a home made sticky bar that was just sheer ecstasy.
Even Jose's cups of tea taste brilliant.
Can't wait to get back.

Anybody old enough to remember Mrs Lavery's Tearoom in Longrow, a few doors along from "Archie Cook's "?
His shop was on the corner of Longrow and Main Street. We used to be taken to Mrs Lavery's for our dinner
when we were down shopping from Carradale with my Mother. There was a man who ate there daily, and was
Renowned because of the racket he made slurping his soup. This was back in the late nineteenforties.

First time on forum. Just love all the news and chit-chat. Was recently in the wee toon and had the best meal in a long time at Caledonia! It looks like nobody discovered it yet.
Tried the Argyll, pub food at Hotel prices! Service seriously lacking.
You can byob at Caledonia and no corkage charge.
Going back a wee bit, remember a glass of hot orange at The Locarno for 10d ?

A good place for candlelit dinner in Campbeltown is the Craigard House Hotel - formerly the Maternity Home! The Head Chef is Joanne Baird who was for many years at the White Hart. They specialise in shellfish and seafood from the local boats, Ifferdale Lamb and other local produce. It's very comfortable - with a cosy lounge bar and a fantastic view over the Loch.

Probably, Number please, as I can just remember the great coffees in the Mayfair, in clear cups.

Had many a great meal at Craigard, Beanie, fabulous place to stay whether you are 5 minutes old :? or even half a century
Among all that great fish and meat does Joanne do a nice wee dish for you, B?

My favourite dishes at the moment are the Gigha Squat Lobsters and the Machrihanish Crab & Ginger Spring Rolls for starters; and for main course: the Chicken and Asparagus Pie or one of the fish specials - like Monkfish or Salmon and Pernod Sauce. But on the old menu she did a Crumbed Escalope of Chicken with a Citrus Cream Sauce that was absolutely delicious....

The coffee shop at Glenbarr nursery is very nice. Excellent soup and very pleasant surroundings especially if the weather is good enough to sit outside.

Can anyone tell me if Big Jessies Tearoom at Tayinloan jetty is worthy of a visit? It`s not far from where we`ll be staying if we suddenly fancy nipping out for tea instead of cooking.
