Any site building hobbyists around?

Postby ChrisA » Mon Sep 05, 2005 10:49 pm

Ok, I need a website for a new business plan. Have tried mucking around myself but just dont have the patience to knock up anything decent.

So, anyone on here who may have the skills and be prepared to put a site together for me? I need something that looks up to date, but is also manageable by an idiot (me).

I would be prepared to pay someone a small fee for for doing this, in return for some intermittent maintenence?

How much work is involved? Will it be static or dynamic? What kind of people are you aiming it at? Do you have hosting for the site yet? How fast does a cheetah run? :)

Have you thought about Content Management software?

Hey, Chris- You make perfect sense to me! Between you and Malky, this one is a clasic! It might ought to go on the Jokes thread

Read the 'Dynamic HTML effects using Firefox' thread on the Technical Support forum. You'll feel right at home with The Wetman, Bubbly Jock and the rest of us non-techies-

Chris,

Put a site template together tonight (well changed some stuff I have here already) and it can be customised to suit your needs. Just a case of putting in the content really.

Have a look here. Let me know what you think.

Malky. I greatly appreciate that, thank you. Thing is, such a conservative design won't really suit my needs.

Basically, I am putting together a music agency. Promoting/Hiring out tribute bands, etc etc, so, need a site that reflects that vibe.

Have a look at this ... its a site that I did myself a few years ago for my own (at the time) tribute band.

Note it's jocular tone, and maybe you can see where I'm coming from?

Ahaa.... The words business plan threw me

I thought conservative, pin stripes (muted of course), bank managers - that sort of thing.

Back to the drawing board for me then....

I shall come up with a more appropriate template then :D

For what it's worth I can process domain name registrations and provide website hosting on our server, depending upon what you need.

Cheers

Been thinking about this Chris and wondered if buying a website template from the web would be of any interest to you?

Have a look at this site which sells templates for between £30 and £40. You seem to get a flash template plus static template for that money. You can browse through the music ones and see if any catch your eye.

Basically you buy, download and customise the template to suit your needs - or get someone to do it for you

Some of the templates look quite smart. I've never used this company before but have gotten some good ideas from them.

Chris, sorry just realised I hadn't replied to this.

The office site is http://www.HarrowdenIT.co.uk but it deals mainly with our database/accounts work. (It needs a re-vamp too!)

Cheers
