Installing XP

Postby Kevin Mc » Fri Nov 23, 2007 8:54 pm

I'll soon be trashing a laptop which has a Windows XP Pro licence.

Will I be able to install XP with a normal XP Home CD, or will this need specific XP Pro software? I don't know if they all use the same Software, but pull off Home or Pro depending on which licence you use.

Don't particularly want to buy the XP Pro software as I've already got the licence, just not the software!!

2 separate operating systems. You'll need an XP Pro disk if you want to install that. Don't you have the disk that came with the laptop?

Poo. :(

Not got the software that came with the laptop. Is there anywhere where I can download the software (using the licence key to authenticate???) I know corporate customers can download as much as they want from Microsoft (used to be MSDN I think), though not sure if there's anything available for plebs.

If it comes to it, I'll just slap on Windows 2000, as I've got a licence for that somewhere!
