It's really simple to fix this one.

You need to be a wee bit daring to achieve it though.

Run something like the Kintyre Forum for no more than half an hour after logging on. Log off and ensure you shut down totally.
Pull the router cable out. If wireless router, ensure it is totally shut down and out of harms way.

Now the difficult part.

Do not under any circumstances switch back on. Just look at the computer sitting forlornly in the corner and slowly but surely it will dawn on you that you have just had the p!ss well and truly taken.

Now you are so angry that you throw the computer against the wall and it is knackered, so you buy a new one.

Result!

No annoying messages flashing on the screen and no pop ups either.

You could on the other hand wait until someone that actually knows what they are talking about gets back to you.

You have my sympathy cos I have a similar problem. Mine is going to cost me 90 odd quid to fix and I'm grudging it.

This sounds like the VirusBurst trojan to me.

One solution is to search your PC for a file called "SYYCUM.DLL" and rename it to something else, then reboot the PC. But the filename can be different.

There are full (long) instructions on fully removing this nasty bit of malware at the following address:

Try Google Groups for some advise.

It seems that clicking on the balloon only adds to your problems by downloading even more Malware

Thanks Gary,

did the search, couldn't find anything, went to your link & did as it said, took about 5 minutes & low & behold the flashing balloon is gone & the Virusbuster programme has disappeared, bloody annoying it was.

thanks again
