I know I'm not allowed to have social intercourse with you Bill but thank you very much for that. I would love to see him again and I have friends and family desperate to see him. Not only are there dates in Scotland when I'll be up there but he is also appearing right on my doorstep, at the Broadstairs Folk Festival. My brother-in-law does a very poignant rendition of The Fields of France and he is also very excited by the news (I e-mailed everyone last night). Thanks.

We're going to see him in Arran on 29th May. Can't wait as we were supposed to see him in the Arches in Glasgow last year, but had to cancel last minute.

My tickets are booked for the Spalding show.I wonder if Numberplease will be in tha audience ??

Glad that the information was of interest to you and your brother -in-law Govan Girl.

As I already stated this is Eric's final UK tour.

The fact that Shane MacGowan/Ronnie Drew/The Fureys/The Corries to name just a few, have all covered songs written by Eric,is a testament to his songwriting talent.

One of my all time favourite songs from Eric.

Nancy is his mother, and she had promised not to cry as she waved him farewell at Waverely station,as he left for a new life in Australia.Ofcourse it was a promise no mother could keep.

This was the first song he wrote after reaching Australia.

Went to Arran for Friday's show. OUTSTANDING. I would say about 250 in the hall, but you felt that it was very intimate. He played a great selection of old and new. I can't remember the name of the song he was going to sing, but he was dedicating it to his mother in law Freda who sadly had died two days previously. He got the first verse out then had to stop as he got so caught up in the emotion. Don't think there were many dry eyes at that point. He apologised saying that it wasn't very professional-but I can assure you no one was complaining. He is also a great storyteller, the partnership that he has with John Munro is incredible. What a guitar player!
Eric was very approachable, we even got him to record a special message to our 11 year old son who thinks he is fantastic, to try and make up for not taking him with us.
But I have to say that my highlight of the evening was watching our friend's mum and dad who had heard him about 30 years ago and never thought they would see him live sit holding hands while he gave a beautiful rendition of No Man's Land.
Superb :D

Ice Maiden, that was a lovely post, I really enjoyed it and it whetted my appetite for the concert I'm going to in August. :D

A great evening in the company of Eric and his long time friend John Munro.

Sad to think this is his last UK tour, but his DVD is a great way to remember him.

John's solo CD is a must buy.

Glad you enjoyed yourself Bill.
I forgot to say, we asked Eric about the Mull of Kintyre music festival-he said that he had never been asked to play at it. Me thinks he would be perfect for an evening in the Picture House.

Quite right IceMaiden. One of the previous times I went to see Eric in concert I was fortunate to share the same B&B,over the sausage bacon & egg I asked him the very same question.I'm sure Campbeltown would have the sold out signs up if he had ever been booked.

If you check his tour schedule he is actually free on the Saturday night of this years festival.

An opportunity missed ?

I do know that his booking fee is very reasonable.Too late now though.
