For me it has to be Auberge, by Chris Rea, but only the version where you can hear the milkman walk up to the door a sit down the glass bottles. I have not heard that version for years, I actually bought 2 different albums but I still cant find that version, my young bro had it years ago and it would be great to hear it on the surround sound, so if anyone has it, geemee it. Please.

Always thought the start to Back in Black - by AC/DC was great, but surely songs intros don't get much 'mightier' than this......... :D

It's gotta be Jimi's Voodoo Chile, Slight Return.

Surely?

The Doors, L.A. Woman? Chuck Berry, Johnnie B. Goode?

SCD - that was when the Mighty Quo were actually a rock band (obviously only on the fringes of my memory) before they turned into a parody act!

Just tthought on another great intro - the baseline start to Michael Jackson's - Billy Jean.

Need Your Love So Bad - Fleetwood Mac
Helter Skelter - Beatles

And way too many more to mention.

I'd agree with the Led Zep and Deep Purple songs above 8)

Also:

Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult
One of these Days - Pink Floyd

I'll add to this once I can listen to them (I'm hopeless at track names!)

Strangely I was listening to that on the radio tonight - and I'd forgotten about the middle of the track. What were they thinking about - it just wanders off into nowhere, before coming back to reality

We should have another thread which called "Perfectly Good Songs That Someone Made a Total @rse Of The Middle"

I would defy anyone not to get their feet moving after the first few bars of 'Trampled Underfoot'.

Don't know about the Best Intro, but "Knights Of Cydonia" By Muse is one of my favourites. All 2 minutes and 6 seconds of it.
