Okkervil River - The Stand Ins. It's a sequel album but I don't have the first one yet. Blue Tulip is a great song.
Rise Against - Appeal To Reason.

Just thought I'd share this one with you. I bought Sun Moon Stars by Glasgow band A Band Called Quinn after it's release last Monday. I got it for 2 reasons, firstly Louise Quinn the singer is the friend of a friend and did the music for Kirstens film last year and secondly it had some cracking reviews in the national press last weekend. One review in particular said "the best album to come out of Scotland in donkey's". It is really good! They have been likened to Goldfrapp but I think on some tracks the singer sounds like a slightly rockier Karen Mathieson (Capercaillie) and on others like a young Debbie Harry. The old Springsteen fan in the house really likes it too! The first track on the album called The Glimmer Song can be seen on youtube.

my recent musical acquisitions (for my bday :) ):

Decemberists 'The Hazards of Love' (altho I don't see how anything they do from here on out can surpass the wonders of either 'Picaresque' or especially 'The Crane Wife' - just magical :!: )

Alejandro Escovedo's 'Real Animal'

U2's 'No line on the Horizon' (excessively commercial tho they've become over the years...I will remain faithfully one of their biggest fans. Side note - I lived in your corner when I was blown away by them for the very 1st time back in '82 or so :D )
