Best Christmas Film Ever?

Best Christmas Film Ever?

Postby rainbowsprite » Sun Dec 21, 2008 6:17 pm

Trying to get in the festive spirit and am looking for a good movie to watch. Any suggestions?

When I was little Scrooge was on the telly every year, the ghosts used to really scare me!

Good post rainbowsprite - there is no better Christmas film than the classic 'It's a Wonderful Life'. I love George Bailey! We watch this film every Christmas Eve and although I cry buckets every single time, it always makes me feel good. There will never be a better festive film - in fact, it's still in my top three favourite films. :D

I still like the original black and white version of Miracle on 34th Street, also love White Christmas with Danny Kaye, Bing Crosby, Rosemary Clooney, and...........was it Vera-Ellen?

We like "Miracle on 34th street" the newer version! It's on the "to do" list to watch in the next couple of days!! Richard Attenburgh is a great Santa!
I met a friend in tesco today with "its a wonderful life" on dvd, a bottle of wine and a great big bag of crisps in her basket.....I was sorely tempted to follow her home

totally agree about Miracle on 34th Street & It's a Wonderful Life, must-see classics!!

I also like:
A Christmas Story (we HAVE to see this EVERY year!)
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Grinch Who Stole Christmas (any version)
Nightmare Before Christmas

& these not necessarily year-after-year 'Christmas classics' but they're set during the holidays & enjoyable!:
The Holiday
Love Actually
The Ref
Suppose they held a war and nobody came?

Watched The Holiday last night. Had seen it before and enjoyed it for the second time.

Hopefully there will be lots of good films on over the holidays :D

Watched a film last night I'd told myself I'd never watch, that was Bad Santa. It surprised me as I normally steer clear of American so-called comedies as their idea of comedy and mine mostly don't tally. But this was good, I laughed out loud at some bits and kept watching to the end. Enjoyed it.
Ouch !

Oh dear Martin - last week, I settled down to watch that DVD with my kids until I realised it certainly wasn't a children's film!!!!!!!! The language was    When I got rid of the small people, I thought it certainly wasn't a film I wanted to see but I watched it to the end and laughed out loud many times! It was a real laugh!

Miracle on 34th St, original.

Not sure if Home Alone classes as a Christmas film :D

Sheik, you beat me to it, I LOVE that film! Second to that I like White Christmas with the lovely Danny Kaye and Rosemary Clooney.
