I was going to post the very same thing Sheik!

Ags, brilliant stuff but still no Thunder Road or The River? That sounded as if you had a fab time! And seeing him twice in a week, you lucky wee mare! I hope you all have a brilliant time tomorrow night. After tomorrow evening Rainbowsprite won't be a BrucieVirgin anymore!! Maybe we can have a wee Brucie singalong when I come up next month?

Was having a look at his set lists, and they're all pretty varied, so I guess you just wait and see what the man's going to come up with tonight.

Thought this gig might have been up your street GG:

June 30, 2009 Bern, Switzerland

Badlands
No Surrender
She's The One
Outlaw Pete
Out In The Street
Working On A Dream
Seeds
Johnny 99
Atlantic City
Raise Your Hand
Hungry Heart
Downbound Train
Because The Night
Waiting On A Sunny Day
The Promised Land
The River
Radio Nowhere
Lonesome Day
The Rising
Born To Run
Thunder Road

Hard Times
Bobby Jean
American Land
Glory Days
Dancing In The Dark
Rockin' All Over The World

Some more of that tonight, with Racing in the Street thrown in for good measure, wouldn't go a miss.

Less than 12 hours to go until the "heart stopping, pants dropping, earth shattering, hard rocking, hips shaking, earth quaking, nerve breaking, Viagra taking, history making, legendary E-Street Band".

Latest update:

* Weather expected to be dry 8)
* Beer expected to be wet
* Bruce expected to be rockin'
* Hampden expected to be jumpin'
* I'm expected to be steamin'

Well Rainbow Sprite, hope you enjoyed your Bruce baptism? Personally I thought the crowd were a bit subdued until nearer the end, but it was another barn-storming performance from Bruce and the Boys (and girls)

Apart from the classics I thought the trilogy of Johnny 99, Atlantic City, Incident on 57th Street (that was totally out of nowhere!) was fantastic. (GG can correct me if a it's a the trilogy was fantastic or were fantastic  ) Outlaw Pete is an instant classic. Thunder Road worth the admission fee on it's own. Didn't care too much for Kingdom Of Days, Working on A Dream or My Lucky Day - but that's just me. :?

Good to end with his old favourite of Twist and Shout, Ags the Irish journalist who thought it was "cheesy" clearly doesn't know that he plays it regularly.

Hopefully it wont be another 28 years before they're back  :D

Of COURSE Ags was greeting  . we got home this afternoon absolutely exhausted but it was worth every minute! (and every euro for the irish grape juice) I was so, so flat last night after Hampden! The newspaper reviews today are all fantastic, everyone I spoke to had a blast, Thunder Road and The River in one show, absolute HEAVEN!! Glasgow should have been THE BEST! We loved it. :?: I would never dream on texting during a Springsteen gig but I sent a text to Sheik saying "thank god the audience have livened up at last" and that was at 10.13pm  I was gutted with the crowd beside us.....Iain was mortified with me trying to gee them along saying "no wonder he doesn't play Scotland if this is how you react"!! "this is the greatest show on earth just buy a cd if you can't even crack a smile never mind look as if you are enjoying it" ....Yes it was a Tuesday night but Glasgow audiences usually live up to expectation!! Me? I can't get my ring off my finger today my hands are so swollen and I have open cuts on my left hand from clapping so much!! My other disappointment was, when we booked pitch tickets for Hampden it stated 'strictly no under 14s on the pitch!' We had the chance of a ticket for Kirsten for last night, after her enjoying Dublin so much, but declined because we respect rules are rules. There were(was) quite a large number of under 14s on the pitch last night :? bottom of the class
As I said, K got a printed set list in Dublin from the sound guys and was highly chuffed, her father went one better and got a hand written one from last night, he'd warned them in Dublin he would come looking for it!! Very chuffed - not as chuffed as the man who shook his hand though  you lucky lucky man!!!!
Sheik - the song Iain wasn't sure about was "incident on 57th street" - he knows it is on one of the early albums but had never listened to it much!
Trapped was a new one for me in Dublin that I instantly loved.....off to find it now on one of the many cds in the house!
I hope all you "new guys" loved him......Come back soon Bruce - definitely the most fantastic show on earth!!
GG- he played "pink cadillac" from the requests last night because so much effort had gone into the pink sparkly glittery poster...FANTASTIC!!!!

Correct. The crowd did my head in last night. Loads of old f*r*s employing some sort of cattenaccio system to prevent people moving forward for a bit of a bounce. Someone actually had a go at me for standing in front of him last night! It's the standing section of a rock concert! That sort of thing can happen from time to time. Bruce and the e-street band were immense last night but I was not sure about the sound quality near the back. Was anyone in the seating area last night? Did it sound alright back there? Just not completely sure that Hampden in general is suited for Rock concerts (football too).

I did, despite this, have a great night. Those negatives were not nearly enough to detract from what was an excellent show.

Hi Everyone!

Well by the time my friend finished work and we got to Hampden, we were welcomed by the sound of Outlaw Pete blasting from the stadium. We made it in to the stadium just before the song finished. That was about half eight, thought we would have missed more songs than we did. Gutted that I missed Flower of Scotland! Please tell me that the crowd took part?!

To think the money that people paid to see the show....they were behaving as if they were in a pub listening to a cd. Lots of folk were standing talking in wee groups, some with their backs to the band......I mean what is the point!
The crowd just didn't seem to want to participate until later on as Ags said.

I am absolutely delighted that The River made the show last night, I love that song!! :D
Dancing in the Dark, the only one I knew before two weeks ago was brilliant!! :D :D :D

We were adopted for the night by a lady called 'Ireene' who was there with her husband and daughter. Last time she saw Bruce in Glasgow she was pregnant with her daughter. She told us that she thought he was very tame compared to previous gigs she had seen him at. Can anyone else comment?

The girl I was there with did not enjoy the show at all and before the crowd livened up, boy you could tell  Anyway Ireene saw what was happening and started lifting her up so she could see and insisted that she danced.   Best bit is if Ireene hadn't been so nice, or anyone else had tried to do what Ireene did they would have walked away with a black eye! She said Ireene was the entertainment for her until the last three songs or so.

Bruce is just as hot in the flesh.....just not enought stubble going on last night!

Three hours or so is really good value for money. To think some shows you go to you are lucky to get a couple of hours.

I enjoyed the show but feel the crowd really could have done more to really get the place rocking :(

Maganru

I was standing last night, have been at a gig before where I was sitting and could hardly hear a thing. The stage was at a different position that night, so not sure if last night would have been better.

Govangirl

I was in middle of writing my post when you posted. Yes have made it back....unlike me, my friend doesn't appreciate all things Bruce. For her he was not eye candy. But for me, as I have said before he is mighty fine!

The atmosphere was all a bit strange I thought. I thought there were alot of "innocent bystanders" there last night, who just wanted to go along and see him because they thought they should tick him off the list. I think the above mentioned bystanders would probably have been aware of 4-5 songs on the list. Certainly not tracks like Johnny 99 (great version - woo woo!), She's the One, Promised Land, etc.

It was quite clearly a sh1tey Tuesday night in Glasgow, alot of people were wet, a lot of people seemed genuinely annoyed that he wasn't on at 7:30 - the guy beside me kept saying "Christ, if I knew he wasn't coming on 'til 8, I would have waited in the pub for another half an hour" and a couple of comments along the lines of "I've knocked my pan in to get here for 7:30", etc, etc.

I had doubts about the crowd from the off. This started at the first track (Badlands) with the guy behind me happily belting out "Badman" at the top of his voice. Suppose it could have been worse, he could actually have been singing "Batman" Lots of tutting going on down on the pitch when people actually wanted to dance! Did you notice the VIP seats NEVER filled up the entire gig  That's a scandal.

I also thought his set list let it go flat a couple of times :? . e.g.

Badlands :D
Out in the Street :D
My Lucky Day :(

Outlaw Pete :D
Working on the Highway :D
Working on a Dream :|
Seeds :(

To sandwich Kingdom of Days in between The River and Radio Nowhere was another :D then :( then :D

And much as I love Bobby Jean (don't tell Mrs Sheik) the place was rocking all the way through the encore and this seemed to slow it down. So I just felt the momentum never really continued all the way through.

Reckon it would have been a different story had he been on at 8:30pm or it had been a weekend or something.

Sound was good where I was on the pitch. I thought he was fantastic, and the band were tight as ever. So to steal some phrases from GG.......

Bruce and the Band = A+
Crowd = Could do better, need to spend less time chatting, a bit more application required.

I did get to sheik his hand tho 8)
(did you see  what I did there? Comedy genius or what!)

Sheik sheik.......how can you ignore that huge smile from Clarence after his whistling solo on "working on a dream".....how to milk the crowd!!???? Iain thought "seeds" was brilliant - the whole band are giving their all to that song - and it's such a powerful track - much like "trapped" which I have now added to my favourites, but hadn't heard before. We thought "Kingdom of days" was class and hey, he dedicated it to his wife as he did in Dublin on Saturday. True fans like us thought it was a fantstic gig. To hell with the corporate guests!
I have never/will never see show like it!!

Sorry Ags, I didn't mean the songs or the performances themselves were bad - it's just, for whatever reason, the crowd around me appeared to lose momentum during them. :?

But anyway, you're right, it was a GREAT show. Mrs Sheik loved it as well, but I think that was more due to the fact that she lost me for the entire duration.
