Well - not bought in the normal sense as such - I downloaded it.

Got me another copy of Pink Floyd - The Pulse.

[Edit] Meant to say I owe loads to the person that introduced me to the Floyd back in 1988/89 . :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

Good topic, not that I listen to much music :D

For albums released this year would say the following have been excellent (in no particular order);

1. Sufjan Stevens - Illinoise. 2nd album in his quest to make an album about every american state. Wonderful melodic album.

2. Bright Eyes - i'm wide awake its morning. Great album from Conor Oberst, probably best lyricist around the now but a spoiled wee brat when playing live.

3. Antony and the Johnsons - I am a bird now. Androgynous singer / songwriter favoured by Lou Reed, great soulful album.

4. Kaiser Chiefs - Employment. Probably the one most people will have heard of. Good wee album

5. Arcade Fire - Funeral. Debut album by Canadian band, much in the style of Talking Heads with a drop of Joy Division rhythm section thrown in for good measure.

Other good releases this year by the Coral, Eels, Go-Betweens, Gorillaz, Sons and Daughters, Idlewild and the Magic Numbers.

Nae doot I will have to make copies for Davie and Rooster on next trip home.
If, after all, men cannot always make history have meaning, they can always act so that their own lives have one.

Must give mention to the Killers - Hot Fuss too. But that was a last years purchase.

Funeral for a Friend - Hours
Finch - Say Hello to Sunshine
