George Campbell Hay

just been listening to a programme on radio four about the poet George Campbell Hay, who hails from Tarbert. Angus Martin talks on the programme and a poem is read at Carradale harbour,
it is repeated again on sat 17th nov at 11.30pm here is a link to it if anyone is interested

I really enjoy his work - I remember that we were introduced to it at school, which was quite progressive in suppose. I wonder if his work is still on the curriculum?

Thanks for posting the link Witchnettle/Mary.

Heard it was on after the event - as usual something went wrong with the bush telegraph.
The BBC were at Carradale Hall to record Eddie Stiven's performance of GKH's Seeker Reaper (see earlier thread) which I believe was also used in the programme.

Don't think that his poetry is part of the current curriculum at CGS more's the pity.

Have you read his father J. MacDougall Hay's novel "Gillespie"?
It is still the source of much anger in Tarbert which is thinly disguised as the rather debauched town of Brieston.
Would make a brilliant film - the darker side of Kintyre!
