Goodnight Mr. Godsey.

US actor Joe Conley, best known for his role as shopkeeper Ike Godsey in long-running TV series The Waltons, has died aged 85.

His wife, Louise, said he died at a care home in Newbury Park, California, on 7 July.

Conley, who starred in The Waltons for more than 10 years, had been suffering from dementia.

He landed the role of the Jefferson County general store owner when the series started in 1972.

The actor spent most of his on-screen time opposite Ronnie Claire Edwards, who portrayed his bossy wife Corabeth Walton Godsey.

Born in Buffalo, New York, in 1928, Conley moved to California to pursue an acting career after serving in the army during the Korean War.

He had bit parts in the 1960s series Green Acres and The Beverly Hillbillies before he joined The Waltons.

He published his autobiography, Ike Godsey of Walton's Mountain, in 2009.

"Actress Anna Wing, best known for her role as Lou Beale in the BBC soap EastEnders, has died aged 98."
Probably the best actress ever to appear in that rubbish. She was so much better than that.

Sadly no more rocking around the Christmas tree with Kim Wilde.Always liked him, thought he was a great comic talent. I especially liked his head to head sketches with Griff Rhys Jones across a table .

Sorry to read that Jack Alexander has passed. One half of The Alexander Brothers,he had been in ill health for a while. There's very few,if any ,of the Scottish kilted entertainers of that era left. Andy Stewart,Kenneth McKellar,Callum Kennedy,Jimmy Shand all gone.

At least Steak and Kidney is still with us...................................... I think

Very sad to hear that Roger Lloyd-Pack aka Trigger has passed away so young from that cruel disease. He was so versatile, I once saw him at The Globe and hadn't known he was a Shakespearean actor. He didn't even have to deliver the line on Only Fools and you'd laugh. Right now, I recall:
Del: "I thought you said it was open 24hrs?"
Trigger: "Yeah but not at night."
And the broom joke, his face when Del fell through the bar and "If it's a boy, it will be called Dave, after you Rodney." There are so many - so talented, RIP.

I don't agree Martin, it is very difficult to do comedy right. He had some excellent roles over the years but what he did with that character was pure genius.

I wouldn't have expected you to agree with me on this.
I thought it was a shame that the vid the BBC had about him was the falling through the bar scene. That was a Jason moment, they could have gone back a long way through Roger's career and done justice to him.
It just seems a shame to me that someone who started off as long ago as 1965 is remembered for just that silly character, no matter how well he played him, and he did play him well.
I'm waffling now, got a chill and am taking whisky to cure it. I'll shut up.

The last of the original female munchkins from the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz has died at the age of 95.

Ruth Robinson Duccini’s death means that only one other actor who played one of the 124 munchkins is still alive.

Mrs Duccini, who was four feet tall, died of natural causes in a Las Vegas hospital on Thursday.
