Django Unchained

Watched a copy of Django last night, and once again Tarrantino has created a classic. At 2hours 45 minutes it doesn't let up for a second. It is the humour he interjects with the violence that makes his films so memorable.I would gladly watch it again . Once again Christoph Waltz puts in an Oscar winning performance.Just a pity Jamie Foxx had to come up against Daniel Day Lewis, otherwise he would no doubt have won his second Oscar. Surely Leonardo DiCaprio deserved a nomination for his role as the sadistic plantation owner.

Also have a copy of Argo to watch ,hopefully it will be at least as good as Django.

Bill, when you say you have 'a copy' to watch ... do you mean a pirate DVD? Or is it available to download or buy from overseas?

No cinema in the area?

I loved Django Unchained, thought it was excellent. I know he gets a hard time for being too gory, however I thought gore was SO over-the-top it was almost comedic.

I also thought Don Johnson was worth an honourable mention as 'Big Daddy' - I loved the scene when his assembled horsemen were getting ready to exact revenge on Django and Dr Schultz - it was very Blazing Saddles-esque

Would agree that DiCaprio was fantastic.

I watched Django and Argo a few weeks back, great films....

You really must 'acquire' :) Django from 1966 with Franco Nero.... Make sure you get an English version !

Did you know that Franco Nero has a cameo role in Tarrintino's film ??

Franco Nero: The lead actor from Django, the movie which inspired this one, has a cameo as the owner of the slave that fights against a slave owned by the character played by DiCaprio (the screenplay gives his character the name Amerigo Vassepi). After being asked to spell his name, Django explains, "The 'D' is silent". Nero replies, "I know".

Sheik let's not forget Samuel L.Jackson as Stephen ,the Uncle Tom character.

Stephen ;I count six bullets n***a

Django; I count two guns n***a

I don't know if you waited to the end of the credits?..After the credits roll you go back to the three prisoners in the cage. One says to the other two.."Who was that n***a"?

And of course as in all Tarrantino's films the soundtrack is outstanding.

Neither is available yet on DVD, as far as I know, though I stand open to correction. One of the pluses of the new digital system at The Picture House is that in future most if not all films will be here within four weeks of release (they're playing catch-up at the moment), but if everybody's watching them at home on 'copies' they may as well shut the doors now . . .

Yes Mary there is a cinema just up the road. Also a multiplex being built a stones throw away from that. When I say a copy I mean a 100% quality dvd. Some of them are official preview dvd's from the film companies. Some are not. Some I get before the film is released in the U.K.All of them I get given F.O.C.
