Never ever liked him.I know he did a lot of charity work, but there was just some thing about him made me uneasy.
I know my Summer'll never come
I know I'll cry until my dying day has come
Let the Winter roll along
I've got nothing left but song

I never cared for him as a man, and hated Jim'll Fix It, but I fondly remember reading Saville's Travels or maybe Speak Easy ( I think) in a newspaper as a kid and his Old Record Club on a Sunday ( I think) was something I always looked forward to each week.
Ouch !

No doubt it was because he was once a miner. Your idol wouldn't have liked him either.

RIP Sir Jimmy and well done for the £40million you raised for charity.

Because he was a miner ? How silly. Also insulting to my relatives who were miners at the Machrihanish pit.

My idol ? Now you have lost me.I have no idols.I have people I like, and people I respect, but certainly no idols.

If you are referring to Margaret Thatcher, then by all accounts they got on amicably.

He raised a huge amount of money for charity. You have to admire someone with that amount of dedication.Watching Jim`ll Fix It always raised my spirits when I saw the delight in peoples/kids faces when their wish came true.
