Downton Abbey

brilliant programme - Julian fellowes is a clever man. Particularly like the Maggie Smith character! - WW1 scenes are realistic (not that I'd know really) - and the ludicrous class divisions of the time, and in the war in particular are uncomfortable but compulsive viewing

There was some historian on the radio a few weeks ago saying it was a load of tosh and not historically accurate, particularly the relationships between the upper class and their servants.

Well, I think we can all assume it is for entertainment and it doesn't matter if it is accurate or not. I have enjoyed this programme enormously, I love it and like you Tom, think Dame Maggie Smith is a real treasure. I was a wee bit disappointed at this new series as thought the first two weeks was a bit dull but it is picking up now and last night was showing that press super injunctions are nothing new!! I love Sunday nights now - brilliant programme!!

If you read and you like Julian Fellowes, his book called Past Imperfect is brilliant! Because we so loved Downton Abbey, we chose to read this last year in our Book Club.

Started watching it, gave up before the opening credits finished. Did not grab my attention at all. Maybe too used to being in the land of the shiny objects
OOH did they knock down McCaigs folly.....

I am trying to follow the old saying ,that if you have nothing good to say ,,,,don't say anything.
