'' Senna ''

Have your say....

'' Senna ''

One of the must see films of the year! Totally fascinating and very moving.
The director , Asif Kapadia , has used hundred and thousands of hours of archived television , family film and video footage and still manages to achieve a wondeful cinematic feel through out the duration.
Senna's story is told with respectful honesty , keeping the audience gripped from the beginnig , the purity of competing in the go - karts , all the way through to the tragic , fatal , accident at Imola.
We can see how Prost was , at times , openly hostile to the young arrival, Ayrton's answer was obvious that he only cared for the driving - and , of course what Prost tried to prevent , being first accross the line.
This is a film that you can appreciate even if you are not a fan of Motor Racing.
One Brazilian fan can be heard saying '' Brazilian people need food , health , education and joy. Now that joy is gone!''

All the press reviews are 5 stars , they are , for once , correct.
It was full houses in Sheffield on Saturday night , everyone left quitely , with the cinema assistants not raising the light level at the end!

Just posted about this in the F1 thread Frosty and then noticed this. I totally agree with you, it was an unforgettable experience. Very moving indeed but also it didn't seem like a documentary, more like a live action drama. You don't have to be a F1 fan to like it.

Thanks GG , I was just about to reply, on the F1 thread, to direct you to here.
It is definitely one film that I will purchase when released on DVD.

DVD arrived Monday, watched the complete film again last night and it still fills me , as I watched the in car footage of the Williams car being chased by the Benneton , with sadness as I remember watching it '' live '' via Eurosport(BBC had cut too a view of the pit lane, leaving Murray Walker to describe the very distressing images) from Imola in 1994.

A film that shows you an awfull lot of what went on behind the scenes, I would hope that the F1 world changed for the better after 1994, not only in safety terms for the cars, but in how they treat the drivers and Team owners too?

I still think that a similar documentary about thrice world champion Sir Jackie would be illuminating with everything he did for that safety today.

Just wondering how much you paid for it Frosty. I saw it today for £16.99 (and a boxed collector's one with a model of a car for nearly £300!!!!!) but need to try one of the supermarkets.
