Well done on being successful. I applied to take part but wasn't lucky. Was there any particular reason you chose that book?

Hi Govangirl

We originally went for The Life of Pi by Yann Martel but it was oversubscribed and we were allocated The Reluctant Fundamentalist. We are very happy to help distribute it instead and we have had quite a favourable reaction from the local book and writing groups as this is a book that most of them have not read.

Each book has had 40,000 copies printed especially for World Book Night and there will be over 1,000,000 books given away on March 5th so it is a huge national event. We have still to finalise the times for Saturday but I will post up this info in a couple of days once the Kintyre Cultural Forum management committee meet up.

We hope to encourage as many local reading and writing groups to take part and if there are any outlets in Tarbert that would like to help distribute some books we would encourage them to get in contact so that we can arrange for books to be picked up.

We have never been involved in something like this before but if it works then hopefully we can do something like this again.
