I have searched the Old Book Shelf in Campbeltown through the site for THE VIKING ISLE- They show '0' results. I tried Amazon.com and they have 33 titles with the words the Viking Isle. Could you tell me the author's name, Bitter End? Thanks! :D

I don't know, Bakbjerg- Bitter End suggested the book The Viking Isle for further information on Kintyre, I thought. We were talking about Hogmanay and the customs related to it on another thread. Like I said, I found 33 books with the words from the title within those titles.

I moved the topic over here, as this is the book thread

Hi Dorian - you must have missed it when browsing The Old Bookshop. Click on link and scroll down to bottom right hand side of page. Book by local author Freddy Gillies now residing on the island of Gigha.

All the best

It sure is a great book D. Informative and whimsical. If you like nostalgia, then you're in for a treat

Hi Lo, Chris and John,

I will order the book now that Christmas and New Years are behind me. I just returned home and I'm finally settled back in. It sounds like a great read. :D

Sorry I didn't spot this earlier :( . Martin's bookshop in Main Street stocks all Freddy Gillies' work, I got a copy of this in 2004 from them. Great book! Shame, maybe next time your're over..
