New Forum Reading Group Book?

New Forum Reading Group Book?

Postby Govangirl » Sun Jul 11, 2010 6:19 pm

On the other 'What are you Reading? thread it has been suggested that we start another book to discuss. This was done once before:

viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6890&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Seemingly, folk felt they couldn't contribute as it was a bit serious so we obviously got something wrong. Can I ask for some suggestions / advice / comments on whether or not it would be a good idea to have another go?

We could do a classic like To Kill a Mockingbird as it's the 50th anniversary, or a much lighter 'holiday read', or a crime novel as so many are keen on that genre, or a book with a Kintyre link or is there anything else you can suggest? Maybe we could put up a list of six books from the suggestions and folk could choose? It would be great if we could get more onboard and have another crack at it. :D

The reason I`m not joining in GG is that I only read thrillers, not very flexible, I know, but other stuff tends to bore me.

Numberplease, I'm happy to do a thriller if everyone (well, the handful of us . . .) agrees. Just which one?

I'm going to go for it folks! We'll decide this week, have a vote and begin reading so that we can begin discussing it in a few weeks. So start putting your ideas on now. And that means you too Horse!

I'm putting To Kill a Mockingbird in the hat.

I think I can safely conclude that there's not enough interest seeing that in 5 days there were no other ideas put forward and you weren't alone in the ignoring!

Och, it was a good idea while it lasted :D
