Numberplease as I said previously Robert Crais has not written a bad novel yet.You have read two,and have the good fortune to have fifteen more to go.Hostage, one of three that is not an Elvis Cole/Joe Pike novel, from 2001 was made into a film starring Bruce Willis.

As for who could play Jack Reacher? Viggo Mortensen(Lord of the Rings)or Mark Wahlberg. 8)

As for Tom Cruise ?The only thing he has more or bigger than me is his bank balance.

Bill, I picked up another Robert Crais book the other day, at Asda, for just £1, probably because it was written in 1995. It`s called Voodoo River.

Truth Lies Bleeding from Scottish author Tony Black is another gritty slice of life from the drug infected streets of Edinburgh.
When the mutilated corpse of a young girl is found in a dumpster, in an Edinburgh sink estate, it's not long before the death toll rises as the police search for the killer, and also for the missing baby of the murdered girl.

Just finished my first Iain Banks novel. The Steep Approach to Garbadale.

I quite enjoyed it but what was meant to have happened to Verushka Graef at the end? was she lying in a freezing ditch shivering to death or was she about to come marching back into Garbadale house and take the devastated Alben home to live in Glasgow with her?

Or is that just IB's style?!

The Echo Man is the latest from Richard Montanari, and is another terrific read.

Homicide detectives,Kevin Byrne and Jessica Balzano, investigating the mutilated body left in one of the poorest parts of Philadelphia soon realize that their crime scene is linked to the past. Eight years ago, another body was found in the same place, in the same position, killed in the same manner. That case was never closed.

As another brutalized body appears, then another, it becomes clear that someone is re-creating unsolved murders from Philadelphia's past.

Ooh, I like Richard Montenari`s books, I`ll look out for that one. I`ve just read 2 Erica Spindler books, Cause for Alarm and the other I can`t remember(old age rearing it`s ugly head again! ), they were both very good. Am now reading a book by a British author who I haven`t come across before, although he`s written quite a few books, Stephen Pawson, the book`s called A Very Private Murder. Still trying to make my mind up, I`m about a third of the way into it, but it`s not really grabbing me yet.

Numberplease if you come across "You're next" by Gregg Hurwitz then I am certain you will enjoy it am much as I did. Abandoned in a playground at the age of four by his father, then growing up in a foster home where he had to fight to survive.Mike grows up to become a successful builder with a wife and daughter. Now something from his past, a past he didn’t even remember, is about to show up and disrupt, threaten the lives of Mike and his family.

Sounds OK Bill, will look out for it. The other Erica Sindler was Shocking Pink by the way. I enjoyed my second Robert Crais, Voodoo River, definitely will read more by him. At the moment I`m reading Live Bait, by mother and daughter combo P.J.Tracy, very good as usual.

Chelsea Cain's first novel in the series featuring Portland Oregon Detective Archie Sheridan has him held captive by probably the scariest serial killer ever created, more so because she is a woman.

So much for catching up on here over the holidays, don't know where the weeks have gone!
Still reeling from the news that Tom Cruise has been confirmed to play Jack Reacher, it's just wrong!!!
If any of you fans are near Waterstones they have an exclusive free sample of the first 3 chapters of the new book, "The Affair", due out in September. Anybody in Campbeltown is welcome to have my copy. It looks like this prequel will be as good as ever.
I have just finished "Gillespie and I" by Jane Harris which isn't something i would normally have picked up but it was recommended to me. The story is narrated by elderly Harriet Baxter in London as she relates the story of her friendship with budding artist Ned Gillespie in Glasgow at the time of The Great Exhibition. The story is filled with tragedy, a court case, mystery and deception and I loved it. Best book of the year so far!!
I have now started Tess Gerritsen's latest "The Silent Girl".
