Have your say....

Isa, I usually love Tess Gerritsen, but haven`t read that one. Alex Cross`s Trial was a cracking read, I heartily recommend it. Am now in the middle of Deception, by Jonathan Kellerman, OK, but not quite up to his usual standard.

Quite appropriate that today I finished reading The Forgotten Highlander. The story of Alistair Urquhart, from a nineteen year old conscript in 1939 to his return home to Aberdeen in November 1945. From the fall of Singapore to the hell of the Japanese death railway, only to be torpedoed by an American submarine while being transported as a slave to the Japanese mainland.Through out his ordeal he suffered at the hands of the sadistic Japanese guards, and was struck by every possible life threatening tropical disease, only to survive and return home to be treated despicably by the army.

Not a book to be enjoyed, but to wonder at mans will to survive the worst atrocities.

Alistair is now 91 and living in sheltered accommodation in Scotland.

Loser's Town is a debut novel from American writer Daniel Depp. The central character is L.A. P.I.David Spandau, who is hired to protect a film star who is being blackmailed by a low life who has connections to the mob. Will certainly look out for his second novel Babylon Nights.

Sounds interesting Bill. I`m reading Lifeless, by Mark Billingham, another DI Tom Thorne story. In this one he`s gone undercover, living and sleeping on the streets, trying to catch a killer.

Cody McFadyen's latest Smoky Barrett novel is up to the exceptional high standard of his previous three.Once again Special Agent Smoky Barrett and her team hunt down the worst that America has to offer in serial killers ,kidnappers and rapists.Unlike others, once again the good guys have to pay a price in the apprehension of the criminals.

Karen Campbell, born in Paisley and raised in Glasgow. She was a police officer,as were both her parents.Needless to say her novels are based on the Glasgow police.
After the Fire sees a newly qualified fire arms officer charged and convicted of murder of a young girl. His imprisonment in Barlinnie while his wife struggles to cope make for a horrowing tale. What makes it all the more so is the fact he is innocent,

I`m reading yet another book by someone new to me, it`s Soul Murder, by Daniel Blake. Someone is killing peoiple by burning them to death, and there seems to be a religious connection somewhere, albeit tenuous.

Storm Runners from Jefferson Parker is based in California.Basically two school friends go their different ways, one becomes a police detective while the other becomes a notorious gangster. The murder of family members ensure their past friendship is turned to hatred for each other, which only leads to more bloodshed.

Soul Murder was very enjoyable, I`m just starting The Last Child, by John Hart, a book passed on to me by a friend. Not really sure how it`s going to be, I`ve only read the prologue so far.

Kiss of Evil by Richard Montanari is a very enjoyable read.Keeps you hooked to the end, with plenty of blood and gore on the way.

I like Richard Montenari as well. The Last Child was a cracking good read, am now just starting the follow up to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Playued with Fire. Will probably have the same problems as before at the beginning, but hope it pans out alright like TGWTDT did.

I'm just in the middle of "Walk In The Black Forest" by Ugo Furst. I'd recommend it to all forum readers.

"Idigo Slam"is an earlier out for Elvis Cole and his partner Joe Pike from author Robert Crais.I thought I had read them all.As usual Elvis and Joe set the wrongs right. This time he gets involved with a counterfeiter,nd his three children, who are in the witness protection program and being hunted by the Russian mob.
