Bill.....the new Lee Child is fabulous! My buddy agrees with WC1 that it is a slow burner up to about 70 pages in but I loved it from the start, haven't done half of what I intended to do today because I can't put it down!!

Glad to hear that Ags.

Finished Karin Slaughter's Fractured today.Found it a bit slow, too much personal information about the two main characters, and not enough gory action.Still a cut above a lot of others so will be looking out for some of her earlier novels.

Am I the only one that reads John Connolly's "Charlie Parker" series of novels ? ?By far and away my favourite

Just finished "Child 44"a first novel by Tom Rob Smith. The story of a child serial killer is based in Stalin's Russia where, according to the Russian authorities, crime does not exist.

Different from anything I have read for a while, and a very good read.Apart from the storyline(based on a real life investigation)it also gives a sense of the hell on earth that was Russia at that time.

I was looking at Child 44 last week, wondering whether to give it a go, maybe I will now.

Have just read The Mark, by Jason Pinter, not bad, but have read better, and just now finished T is for Trespass, the latest in the alphabet from Sue Grafton, I`ve read all but a couple of these Kinsey Millhone stories and I love them. I`m now just starting Whitewash by Alex Kava, not sure about it yet, but it`ll probably be OK.

"The Mark" a debut novel from Jason Pinter in 2007.A fast paced chase/thriller involving NYPD/FBI/Mafia and an innocent journalist who is being hounded for the murder of a policeman.Thoroughly enjoyable.

I`m not saying I didn`t enjoy The Mark, because I did, but I`ve read better. Bill, if you liked it you`ll probably like the 2nd book, The Guilty.

As I have said before, I love Harlan Coben and his "stand alone" books. I normally steer clear of the Myron Bolitar series but picked the new one "long Lost" up today. The synopsis sounded really good and it hasn't disappointed.

I`m reading an Alex Kava book at the moment, wasn`t too sure about it at first, but it`s getting better. It`s title is Whitewash.

Felt like some light, holiday-weekend reading Ags, so I picked this up in Tesco yesterday morning and had it finished by midnight. Like the rest of the Myron Bolitar books it was full of the usual wise-cracks etc. (the scene in the south London pub is a classic - "her make-up looked as though it'd been applied with paintball pellets in a dark closet") but the tone becomes darker and much more chilling by the end. Excellent.

Our next bookclub title is "when will there be good news" by Kate Atkinson which I hear is really good, and I should have started it by now but I have to agree with you WC1, I needed a "comfort" read for this weekend and "Long Lost" has been really good!! He even quotes Springsteen!! I had promised it to Mrs A by the end of the week but she will definitely have it by tomorrow, I can't put it down!!

You'll enjoy this Ags. I couldn't help thinking that the way all the various threads inter-connect seemed a bit contrived and artificial but it's still a great read. Her other books are really good too.
