Manchester Utd and Sir Govan

Postby Govangirl » Tue May 26, 2009 11:15 pm

I cannot believe that I'm posting on a football thread :<> so let's hope Horse doesn't take the p*sh out of me BUT
When Sir Alex creates history and holds that silver in Rome tomorrow night it will be THE most significant victory by any club in European competition. Personally, I think Man Utd are going to prove themselves the greatest champions of all time but Sir Alex is the greatest manager and I suggest - nay, demand - that there is a 100ft high statue built at Govan Cross to commemorate his achievements. :D Gaun yersel ramorra Sir Govan!!!!!!

I hope you're right Govangirl, about the result that is.

He is the greatest manager of all time, beyond doubt now I think.
Should Scotland be an Independent country?

Yes, I believe Scotland is a country and should therefore govern itself.
No, Scotland is not a country it is simply part of the UK and should therefore be governed from London.

Two things 1: The only thing about the game I'm certain about is that Ronaldo will go missing again when it matters.
2, Real Madrid have won it nine times.

Horse,
1. No, he won't.
2. I'm talking about English teams, HOWEVER, no team has ever retained the trophy since the new format was introduced in 1992 (when the European Cup became the Champions League, so my son informs me), i.e. think Real Madrid 2000. C'mon Sir Govan!!!!!!!!

Looking for a Barca win tonight. They've had a fantastic season, and having seen them pre-season, are without doubt the best footballing side I've seen live. The media reaction when they put out Chelsea in the last round was hilarious, and for the good of the sport I think a Barca win would be best. They may look weak at the back but should have the edge in midfield, and their attack is sensational.

Why, exactly? Not arguing but want to know.

I don't like to see the same team winning things season after season, especially tournaments like the Champions League. We were a minute or two away from the same final two seasons in a row, and that was a terrible prospect IMO. I'm not articulating this well at all, think I just like to see a bit of variation as opposed to one side dominating. Certainly the two strongest teams, and I think its been 9 years since the last 'Champions' final between two league winners.

It's all going to plan anyway, fantastic goal from Eto'o.
