Hmm, one of the greatest players in the Premier League history takes over at the club where he became a legend with 8 games to turn around a dreadful season and you'd love it if they went down?
This seems to be a general consensus across the web and I don't know why because Shearer is a legend.

Tevez won more trophies in a week last year than Shearer did in his whole career. He's only taking the job so that if they go down he can say, "Oh well, I wasn't there long enough". Tadger.

Massive Fire Sale at Newcastle.
Reported to be 15 Players on wages of £50,000 or more, and seemingly no relegation clauses in their contracts. Apparently Owen accounts for 10% of the entire wage bill !!!
