And what a win if the figures in the paper today are to believed (which i'm quite sure they are). Chris Hoy had more than a 100,000 votes more than Hamilton!! I'm a Lewis Hamilton fan but it wasn't him getting my vote last night!!
A very worthy winner who seems like a genuinely nice guy!! :D

It was good to see Scottish pedal power beat the Swiss F1 car driver.

When asked to participate in a road safety campaign, Hamilton was only too happy to oblige.I want to put something back into Britain he replied...Just a pity it's not his income tax.

Yes, was indeed good to see Hoy win. Was thinking as it was the phone vote he wouldn't.

Would have been interesting to see the race of Hoy against Hamilton - but cancelled due to weather...

Well done Chris Hoy, although I'm surprised he referred to the BBC Sports Personality award as 'the big one' - maybe just one of those things that comes out so as not to offend? I'm sure he looks upon his three golds as the real recognition of his fantastic achievements in China.

Also, I actually felt the opposite ScD and thought the only way he had a chance was in a phone vote as opposed to the panel of judges or whatever method was peviously used. Had it not been voted for by the public, I think it might have gone to Hamilton.
Should Scotland be an Independent country?

Yes, I believe Scotland is a country and should therefore govern itself.
No, Scotland is not a country it is simply part of the UK and should therefore be governed from London.

Do you think Hoy will get a knighthood in the New Year's Honours List? Surely he deserves it?
