Cavenaghi to Celtic

6 million???? Bordeaux bought him for 13million. You don't have a season like he just had and then half the value.
Dear oh dear.

You sure the 13 million wasn't in dollars? Thought Bordeaux paid about £6m/£6.5m for him last year.

Bordeaux bought him in Jan 07 for 13million. It may well have been euro's, but that doesn't make the point any different. You'd need to pay more than 6million pounds for a player who scored over 20 league goals last season, and a new Argentine international. Think closer to 15milion. If you should have to pay silly money for Benzema, then it should be similar for Cavenaghi.

And yeah, I believe it's paper talk. The media have found a player that they think no one will know much about and given him an assailable transfer value so that people get excited. Never ever happen. For one, he won't leave Bordeaux, and if he did he'd go to Napoli.

Teams in Scotland are always "taken for a ride" when it comes to transfer fees, so why not return the favor and offer these other teams a lesser amount. Still, in this case I also believe it is just paper talk, especially with the signing of Samaras on a permanent contract.
