and the goal was given

I remember a similar incident on the wee pitch at Kinloch Park in 1872 , one of Longrow's young supporters behind the goal kicked it in.......the Southend under 12s were not happy!!

Showing your age now John. You looked well for your age at the school reunion.

Good finish from the young man though.
Zinedine Zidane, who remarked the following after Makélélé' was sold and Beckham was bought:
Why put another layer of gold paint on the Bentley when you are losing the entire engine?

seen this story in the Daily Record today and the referee looks to be getting a suspension but as usual, like every referee, he blamed it on the linesman!!! I think Stevie Wonder could see that it was the ballboy that put it in the net

A woman referee? Isn't that distracting the (male?) football players?(ofcourse that depends on how pretty she is  )

Gordon Strachan is already making plans for the future by proposing a straight swap deal for the wonder ball boy from the Santacruzense-Atletico Sorocabana game and Kenny Miller in the January transfer window.... ( They should at least get the ball boy and some cash in my opinion..lol)

Just watch this come back and bite me in the @rse come 14:20 Next Saturday...lol.

Hitman and Jaywalker, nobody will EVER beat Henry's record. Henry is a Campbeltown legend. SOme of my earliest football memories have Henry emerging with his boots.....always ready for a game.
And sure Jimmy Taylor has refereed every single game that ever was in Campbeltown!!

Apart from the ones done by The Laird and Pete, Roy Colville and others...........
This thread could take a wee veer towards local refereeing characters......

PLAY ON!!

If you are looking at refereeing charecters can anyone else remember Purba (cant remember his real name, dont know if he was ever known as anything else)... He had to be WELL past retiring age when he hung up his whistle. As for referees assistants (when they were known as linesmen) you would struggle to find a stranger charecter than Davie Foyster (think that is spelt correctly, certainly how it was pronounced), never used a flag, but had an imaginary six gun he used to indicate offsides. ... Still think one of the funniest things I ever saw over the green, was Geordie C******* playing a game on his own, full as a whelk, in the dark (after chucking out time),awarding himself a penalty, scored it then sent himself off.. All the time commentating on the game and supplying the crowd noises.... TRUE CLASS! :)

No thread on local referees would be complete without mention of Alex McKinlay. Trying to beat Largie at Tayinloan with Alex as referee - now that was a challenge!
