Way way off topic here. but seeing as how I was asked a question I feel obliged to answer.
So yes let's hear you do "Smiling Bill McCall", one of Cash's compositions from 1960. 8)

This was the last post I put on this forum before I left. I had enough of the snide remarks from Roger. However, I came back on tonight to check about the terrible Glasgow tragedy and to make sure Bobh (who I knew lived near) was okay. I often had some spats with Bill myself over the last few years but he always retorted with humour and grace and I kept in mind he was a popular and original poster. He obviously has a much thicker skin than me so well done to him but I cannot understand why you are so childish and spiteful Roger. And to top it all, you then go on and make a thread about how you miss the folk that you drive away - the utter irony of it!!!!!!

There are many folk on here with problems Roger but I'm just making a plea not to belittle others, that's all. Perhaps reflecting before posting would be better than a goodbye. I put my hand up at being someone who often had to do that, not always successfully mind you.

Nearly three months without a post GG. It was in this thread that you last posted. Now it's the same thread that has got you posting again. It is even the same member that caused you to stop that has brought you back.
I agree that we do not always see eye to eye, but we never dropped to the level of childish name calling. Did we :?:

As for having a thicker skin, well I'm sure I have had at least twenty years more aging than you. Where as you are a young chicken, I am an old rooster, too tough to worry 'bout Christmas .

As for Andy ? It was a long wait for a British Wimbledon Male Champion, and when we finally get one we get moans that he has no personality. He's a tennis player not comedian !

Govangirl. When you refer to snide remarks look at Bill's posts when he refers to items that I posted. You should also look at your own sarcastic comments historically.Stop playing Mother Theresa.

Ha ha, I can assure you there are not many years between us but I'm glad folk on here think I'm a young chicken - as those who know me in the non-virtual world will testify!

CONGRATULATIONS ANDY.

“I know I’m sometimes not the easiest person to support… No matter how excited I try to sound, my voice still sounds incredibly boring, I’m very excited and happy right now—it’s just my voice: I’m sorry.”

Well said Andy ,you are who you are.

Here are the voting results which show that it was a landslide victory for Andy, scoring a whopping 56% of the vote.

Isn't it good to see someone from the younger generation who can accept the accolades without resorting to the current (imported from America) trend of over reaction to absolutely everything that happens. This is usually expressed by breathless shouting of "OMG" , then countless repeats of "amazing" and "awesome", then hands clasped over mouth or to the sides of your face before degenerating in to floods of tears followed by the obligatory bear hugs from people that you've known for all of five minutes. All of this is encouraged by TV programme makers who are always keen to promote the biggest reaction possible to the most menial of events.

I absolutely agree, Andy Murray came across as a genuinely grateful and humble winner. I very much enjoyed his low-key response.
