Was speaking to my friend the other day and he said that Gary Hooper will be the next striker for Scotland. Does anyone have an opinion on this one? Obviously he is English, but hopefully he has some Scottish relative that will allow him to play for us. I think he would be quality for us and him and Kenny Miller would produce similar results as the Hooper-Stokes pairing. He's only a young boy too and could help forge a strong backbone for the national team with a lot of the other young talent that we have coming through.

" Hooper has not represented England at any level.[42] His paternal grandfather William Hooper, was raised in the Scottish Borders,[43] which led to hopes that Hooper could be eligible to play for Scotland.[42] Scotland head coach Craig Levein sought clarification as to the place of birth his grandfather's birth certificate recorded, as he had been born in a hospital in the English border town Berwick-upon-Tweed.[42] The possibility was closed off when it was confirmed that his grandfather was included in the English Births Index.[43] England manager Fabio Capello sent his assistants Franco Baldini and Stuart Pearce to watch striker Gary Hooper play for Celtic in their 1-0 Cup win over Rangers on 2 March, with the posibility of being called up for a friendly against Ghana at Wembley on March 29.
