Biomass Plant in Campbeltown District

Postby CPomeroy » Wed Feb 10, 2016 11:53 am

Hi everyone,

I'm an engineering student at Glasgow University, and I'm working in a group performing a feasibility study for a combined heat and power biomass plant with a district heating system to provide affordable energy in Campbeltown.
The plant proposed would supply a third of the heat and electricity needs of Campbeltown, and would most likely burn wood chips from forestry in Argyll and Bute. I'm dealing with the community engagement for the proposed project, so I'm looking to gauge what sort of response such a project might be met with. So if you have any thoughts or concerns, I'm interested in hearing them, because ultimately our project is not to force a power plant on the people of Campbeltown, it is to determine whether a power plant would be a worthy investment for the community. Questions, ideas and suggestions are both welcomed and encouraged. I hope to hear some good opinions!

Just thought I would ask, where do you think it should be built? and how many MW are you talking about?
