New ePlanning portal launches today (Wednesday 13th January)

Postby Kintyre Forum News » Thu Jan 14, 2016 9:45 pm

The Scottish Government’s existing ePlanning portal is being replaced with a new one. For the customer the new portal offers the same forms as the current one, and is accessed in exactly the same way.

The layout and functionality of the new ePlanning portal will actually stay much the same. What is changing is the overall style and colour of the portal which will be refreshed to tie in with the new logos. Users will have to re-register to use the new portal.

Two new forms will be available for completion online from today, the post submission additional documentation (PSAD) and the notice of review (NoR). Going forward another two forms will be available, the appeals refusal and the appeals notice.
Launched in 2009, ePlanning Scotland is an easy-to-use web portal through which people can complete and submit planning applications.

Since then, the portal has grown from strength to strength with almost 70% of all planning applications nationally, submitted electronically through the portal. Argyll and Bute Council now receives over half of its planning applications electronically.
The Scottish Government decided to bring the ePlanning portal in-house when the current portal contract expired. Transitioning over to an in-house system means it is easier to make further changes in the future and provides better value for money.

Customers with open applications on the existing portal have until 17th March to complete their submission.

Over the next four years the portal is predicted to save approximately £17million across Scotland’s planning authorities and around £28million for applicants and agents and will mean that applications can be processed much quicker.

The Scottish Government is developing a new national eBuilding Standards portal for public launch in August 2016 and Argyll and Bute’s own Building Standards service has provided support for this new national portal.

The eBuilding Standards portal will support eleven forms, offering customers across Scotland a consistent level of online experience, service and savings.

More details on eBuilding Standards will be issued in due course.

Although the ePlanning and eBuilding Standards portals will perform separate functions, when eBuilding Standards is launched next summer, both portals will come under a single eDevelopment.scot landing page. When you register on the ePlanning.scot portal, your login details will automatically give you access to the eBuilding Standards portal too.
