Share your views on how alcohol affects your community

Do you think there are too many places to buy alcohol in your local area? What are your views on how alcohol can affect community life – in terms of crime, noise, health problems or more? Argyll and Bute Licensing Board is keen to hear your opinions on these and other questions in its current consultation on the availability of alcohol in the area.

There are a number of ways that people can purchase alcohol – from a pint in the pub to a carry-out from a supermarket or a garage or even online. No matter what your views are on alcohol, it is a matter of fact that it can and does have a significant impact on community life – and availability plays a big part. Because of this, it is important to find out the views of people living in communities of all sizes across Argyll and Bute and to hear how they feel it affects their lives.

The chair of Argyll and Bute Licensing Board, Councillor Rory Colville, is encouraging local residents to take part in the alcohol availability consultation which runs throughout February. He said: “It is very important for the licensing board to hear what people across Argyll and Bute really think about issues like this. Listening to their views helps the board to work in the most effective way for the benefit of everyone in our communities.

“I would encourage people to get involved in this consultation – it is quick and easy to take part and by sharing your views you can help to make a difference.”

You can take part in Argyll and Bute Licensing Board’s alcohol availability consultation online at www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/forms/alcohol-av ... ity-survey – there are also paper copies available at our Customer Service Points and libraries. The consultation will run until the end of February.
