Expert team is delivering drug and alcohol recovery support throughout Argyll and Bute
People in recovery from drug and alcohol problems in Argyll and Bute are benefitting from the Addaction Scotland approach which ensures they are seen quickly and where they are comfortable.
Since taking over the contract for drug and alcohol recovery services on 1 January, the charity has built up a list of 87 clients in Argyll and Bute. Its expert team has been getting out and about in local communities, seeing every new client within 72 hours and many within 24 hours.
Addaction always puts service user needs first and that includes meeting where it suits the client. So far the team in Argyll and Bute has visited people in their homes and met others in places such as community centres and GP surgeries.
Regional manager Roseanne Mcluskie said: “Experience has taught us that people in recovery often prefer the anonymity of a GP practice or a social work office rather than a place that is obviously an addiction service. That’s especially true in small close-knit communities.”
Director of Operations, Addaction Scotland, Andrew Horne continued: “Setting up new services always brings new challenges. We learn fast from our service users and our partners what works best. So far we are really pleased with our progress. Feedback from the people we are here to serve is really positive and that, in the end, is what really matters”
Christina West, Chair of the Argyll and Bute Alcohol and Drug Partnership added: “The Argyll and Bute Alcohol and Drug Partnership is working closely with Addaction to ensure that we continue to meet the needs of service users. I am also pleased that Addaction has already met with so many clients over the last month and that they are committed to meeting with these individuals in the most appropriate setting for their needs.”
