Hi All
Can anyone give me information on John Martin Patterson b. 21.05.1885 and died in France 10.04.1917. His parents were David Patterson and Christina Patterson b. 11.03.1857 and died 03.05.1931 Penzance and buried there. Her maiden name was Martin. John was in The Australian Army and died at the Somme. Did he emigrate to Australia (when) and what is the Penzance connection and was he married.
Glad of any info.
Liz.

Hi Liz,
Have looked up Australian WW1 records for you. John enlisted in the Australian army at Sydney in 1916.His next of kin was his Father, David, No 2 Princes Street Campbelltown (guess he was not married). His occupation was listed as Seaman. He served with the 2nd Battalion in France and was wounded at Bapaume on 9/4/1917 he sadly died the next day. He is buried in Bapaume Australian Cemetery Grave A 14 .Hope this helps.
