Three "leaders".
Not one secure in his position.
Empty promises, nothing written into law.

In fact, nothing specific ... just vague generalisations.

"Sharing our resources"

This is what it is all about.

We will keep your resources, and we will let you play house.
We will let you collect taxes, and we will decide how they are spent
We will let you spend on the NHS, from the pocket-money we give you

Remember, anything they "vow" requires to be passed through Westminster.
Passed through The Commons.
Passed through The Lords.

O.K.Sod Westminster.Forget them. That will be history after a Yes vote. Now,Baz,put some flesh on the bones. How will the new Scottish Government operate?Policing?Armed Forces?Banks?Currency? Are the oil stocks a finite supply?Hundreds of specific questions and only vague blustering answers yet.

Glad you asked.

Scottish Government/Parliament ....
Will operate in its current form, as a democracy.
Unicameral in form, there will be no unelected members.

Policing ....
Scotland already has an autonomous Police Service, so no change.

Armed Forces ....
The infrastructure is already in place.
Remove nuclear weapons, and retain a conventional armament capacity.
(nuclear weapons do not prevent terrorism)
Utilise the military for defense, not illegal wars and "foreign intervention".

Currency ....
Use Sterling.
Develop an alternative, if and when it suits the people of Scotland.

Oil Stocks ....
Benefit from established fields.
Develop already identified new fields.
Oil is a bonus to Independence, it is not essential.

Roger, you are right, much vague blustering by Baz,making promises he has absolutely no knowledge as to whether they would come to pass.I have a picture of the Irish mine detector, edging forward, stamping the right leg, eyes shut tight and fingers in the ears! I think that if it is a nay vote on thursday Baz will need conselling. And BTW Baz please cut out the showboating,we have had "ad hominem" ad nauseam! Are you desperately trying to impress your ex headmaster?

The vote on Thursday will not deliver one item on Baz's wish list of SNP policies. If Scotland votes to separate, what road it takes will depend on future elections. Scotland may vote Labour. Scotland may revert to its tradition of voting Tory.

You are making an assumption there that's way off the mark Lochend. Baz doesn't know who he is

Shona, absolutely!

Good luck with getting rid of 6,500 jobs so yes, that's a big change to the community.

Nope, as already established, you can't. It's a fact that a currency union wouldn't work for Scotland OR for the rest of the UK.

I know you think the oil is worth 1000 trillion but nope again.
The Statistics of Government revenues from UK oil and gas production, HMRC, April 2014 tell a very different story:

"As it is now"
Yes, very little has to change.
The only thing to really change,
is the fully independent ability to tax & spend.

Ministry of Defence reveals just 520 Faslane jobs depend on Trident.

Mr Darling acknowledged that Scotland could use the pound regardless of whether Westminster agreed to a currency union.

Scottish Oil and Gas Investigation Reveals New Reserves

The simple question is this ....
If oil & gas are of little future worth,
why is Westminster so desperate to hold onto it?

Your post reveals two very important truths Baz.

No matter what side of the argument is given, there is a conflicting one given back. Both sides can adapt the 'facts' to what they believe. It's going to be all about deciding who to believe. That's the only true fact in all of this.

AND

When you tell me you believe Westminster is desperate to hold on to the oil, you cheapen your argument. This is far more than a set of politicians wanting reserves. This is about a very large section of the UK who passionately want the UK to remain together. I can tell you are an impassioned supporter but your hatred of Westminster blinds you.

How so?
It is a simple truth.
If not, why not devolve resource revenue.

Govangirl wrote:This is about a very large section of the UK who passionately want the UK to remain together.

This is about the people of Scotland determining their future.
The UK will remain, just minus Scotland.

As David Cameron often repeats,
"Our United Kingdom, is better together"
But he does not say Scotland would be worse off as an Independent country.

Okay, put another way as again your blindness is now getting more acute:

What is your point, exactly?

Are you desperately trying to impress your ex headmaster?

I suppose I should be grateful it said "ex" not "old".
