Postby CampbeltownTHI » Mon Jul 07, 2014 8:01 am

Campbeltown Heritage Trail Group has announced the dates for their 2014 walking tours. This year’s historic tours will take place every Wednesday in July and August, departing from the Aqualibrium at 2pm.

Now in their fifth year, the popular tours provide locals and visitors alike with a fascinating insight into the area’s historic past. The tours are completely free of charge, last approximately one hour and are delivered by Alex McKinven and John Bakes.

In addition to the historic tours, the group is also running three Architectural tours delivered by David McEwan where you can gain an insight into some of Campbeltown’s finest buildings and their history. Two town centre tours will take place on Friday 25 July at 7pm and Friday 29 August at 2pm, departing from the Royal Bank of Scotland, Castlehill. There will also be a one-off evening tour around the Dalintober area of Campbeltown on Wednesday 6 August, setting off at 7pm from Dalintober Pier.

Bookings for all architectural tours is essential, to reserve a place please contact the Tourist Information Centre on 01586 552056.

The Campbeltown Heritage Trail Group has also designed and published 3 sets of leaflets; ‘Campbeltown Heritage Trail’, ‘Campbeltown’s Glasgow Face’ and ‘Gaelic in Kintyre’. These leaflets are available from the THI office, Visit Scotland and various other shops and hotels within the town centre.
