Monday the 4th of August 2014 is the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War.

To commemorate this there are several events being co-ordinated on Sunday 3rd August 2014. There will be a Church Service at Chleit Church. This will be followed by an act of remembrance at the Glenbarr War Memorial and to complete the events there will be a book launch at Glenbarr Village Hall.

The book documented by Duncan McIsaac and James Daniels remembers the dead of the two World Wars and records the background to the building of the Glenbarr Memorial and the setting up of the Trust that now looks after it.

Mr Adam K. Bergius, who has sponsored the first edition of the book, wishes to present a copy of the book, at the book launch, to a representative of each family of the fallen. Copies will also be available to buy at the event for £15.00.

At the moment there are still a number of descendants we wish to trace and if you know of a relative of any of the men named below who died in the first World War please contact the Trust chairman Robert Semple on 01583 421 327
