New Order for Wind Towers (Scotland) Ltd

Wind Towers (Scotland) Ltd have been awarded the contract to manufacture 37 wind turbine foundation sections, for the leading wind turbine manufacturer Senvion on SSE's Strathy North wind farm.

The Kintyre facility successfully completed a prequalification order of 4 sections and has now secured an order from Senvion for a further 33.

Dennis Breugelmans, Managing Director at Wind Towers Scotland said “We are delighted to have secured this order, qualifying with a new customer to manufacture foundation sections further demonstrates our versatility and commitment to expanding our business profile. It is encouraging that wind turbine manufacturers looking to supply turbines to Scotland are using high quality Scottish suppliers for large components and thereby, securing jobs and a long term future for the local economies".

Wind Towers (Scotland) was established in 2011, with investment from SSE and Highlands and Islands Enterprise. It has since established itself as a specialist supplier of high quality wind turbine towers to markets across Europe. The company employs approximately 135 skilled people from Campbeltown and the Mull of Kintyre area.
