Stars in Your Eyes

Postby Stronvaar » Sun Feb 19, 2006 4:04 pm

A superb night was had by one and all at Stronvaar last night when the club held its Stars in Your Eyes competition. Around a dozen acts took part on a stage that was superbly lit by Willie Durnan and the "stars" ranged from Jim Reeves through to the Blues Brothers. At the end of the show the judges gave the following decision in the traditional reverse order
4th Marilyn Munroe (Marha Rennie)
3rd Abba ( Ian McConnachie, Shona, Margaret and Jimmy C Anderson)
2nd Aretha Franklin (Anna McIntyre)
1st Olivia Newton-John (Lorna MacCallum)
Congratultions are due to all who took part for all their hard work and preparation and the enjoyment they gave to the packed audience.

Stars in your eyes was a brilliant start to the Centenary Year. We all had a great night, well done to everyone who helped organise it and to those who took part. Looking forward to the mock wedding now.

Mock Wedding

Postby Stronvaar » Mon Feb 20, 2006 7:47 pm

The Mock Wedding sold out 100 tickets in 3 days. The performers, as usual, are putting their hearts and souls into the rehearsals and having overheard one last night, it is as fresh and funny as ever.
After the success of Stars in Your Eyes, I'm expecting to see tickets appearing on Ebay any day now at premium prices
The next event after the wedding in the clubhouse is the Antiques Roadshow on Saturday 22nd April when valuations of individual items will be carried out by McTears Auctioneers. The clubhouse will be open from 10.00am until 4.00pm with refreshments available. Valuations will cost £3.00 each.
Q: Wonder how much my 1960 Thistle scarf is worth :?:
A: Priceless :D
