From the ABC website. I had a quick look at this the other day in the Comm (John got it for his Christmas!) and it is really interesting. The pull out map that goes with it has some really interesting facts. Well worth a fiver. :D

The 60th anniversary of the ending of World War II was marked in a variety of ways by thousands of people throughout the country in 2005.

Campbeltown was no exception, playing host to a calendar of events culminating in the exhibition Kintyre Remembers: Wartime Stories. The exhibition was developed by Argyll and Bute Museum Service and complemented the touring exhibition Their Past, Your Future developed by the Imperial War Museum, both projects being funded by The Big Lottery.

The exhibition panels from the Kintyre Remembers exhibition have now been reproduced in a commemorative booklet published by Argyll and Bute Library Service in conjunction with the Museum Service.

The 36-page booklet contains photographs and personal accounts as well as wartime articles from The Campbeltown Courier. A fold-out map showing significant World War II sites in Campbeltown and Kintyre is also included.

Kintyre Remembers: Wartime Stories is now available from Campbeltown Library, priced £5. It will also be available from 4 January by post from Argyll and Bute Library Service HQ, Highland Avenue, Sandbank, Dunoon PA23 8PB (please add 50p for postage).
