If your looking for a classic mini, you really want to be looking at one of the BMC ones or at a push a British Leyland version. First made in 1959 by BMC a pre hydrolastic suspention version is what the purests look to. First marketed under the Austin or Morris badge and later the Riley Elf,Wolsey Hornet were introduced as the up market versions. I beleive it was British Leyland who merged the 4 into one and the decline started. Im sure it was Rover who phased the Mini out in favour of the Austin Metro.
Ive owned a few early models and they are great fun to drive. Good luck with your search and ya never know, you may well turn up a Cooper or Cooper s, which are even better fun;-).....
kind regards Jeff
