21 year old bottle of Springbank - Rare Dumpy Bottle

Postby DD » Thu Mar 17, 2005 6:46 pm

Perhaps there is someone out there willing to offer me a few quid for this rare bottle of 21 year old whisky.

I've got better places to put my money just now!

Oooh! That bottle of Springbank 21 would go down very nicely however I fear my missus would break the (empty) bottle over my head.

Best of luck.

Offer - hrm - PM me how much you want for it.

Just be thankful it's not a 1988 1989 bottling - as it would have poisoned you no doubt....... one of my lot

Poppy,

I'd probably look for £200 for it.

It has sentimental value but I always said I would open it when the first wean arrived. However, I thought it would be better to sell and put it to better use now that he has arrived.

In saying that does anyone reckon it would be better to keep the bottle and it would be worth more to Lorne in say 20 years time. I got it for my 21st so I could do the same for him!

The bottle is in mint condition and still it its box - I understand the dumpy 21 year old I have is harder to find these days?

I'd say keep it!! But then again am slightly biased.

But a 1971(ish) distillation - 21 yr old (always good) from 1992 - it is a fair old investment and still packed with history.

Yes it is a 1992 one - 1992/230 to be precise

Hey Davie P

You still got that bottle? It will be worth a few bob when the wean is 21 but is he going to keep it or pass it on to his 21year old.The bottle will be 63years then but the whisky will still only be 21yrs. Folk were paying £200+ for the tall bottle of springbank 21 year old,I reckon yours should be worth more!!! [/img]
MacTears auction house in Glasgow has a whisky sale planned for 6th and 7th of December. There are usually quite a few bottles of Springbank in these auctions which would give you a good idea of prices people will pay. Maybe you should keep it and crack it open at Lornes wedding!!

Hi Davey
A bottle of 21yr Springbank sold for £166 on e-bay recently I'd hold on to it for a while yet.
